Another icon of metal has fallen. The man who invented the horns, the only man who could ever step into Ozzy Osbourne's shoes fronting Black Sabbath. At least Dimebag has a couple of worthy bandmates now. R.I.P. Ronnie James Dio, you left us too soon \m/

Dan checking in here to be the bearer of some sad news. Many of you have known about this since late last night when it was announced by Mistress Juliya via twitter. Lead singer and bassist of Type O Negative Peter Steele passed away yesterday at age 48 of apparant heart failure. Many of us had hoped it was a hoax much like a few years ago when Type O Negative's official website displayed the image of a tombstone with Peter's name engraved on it, but the story has been confirmed by friends and family. This time it's the real thing.

Peter inspired many up and coming musicians with his early work in Carnivore and later Type O Negative, myself included. I'll never forget seeing my first live show at L'amour seeing Type O Negative playing with Pete's towering shadow looming over myself and the rest of the crowd. His signature Dracula vocals booming through the PA system went right through my chest that night. Thanks so much for the memories, and thanks for the music. Rest in Peace Peter Steele, you will be sorely missed.
